Senior Thesis Reflection

The path to completing the Architectural Engineering Capstone Project provided many challenges, but was an overall rewarding experience.  I was given the freedom to explore many different topics in which to improve my building.  With the help of industry professionals, department faculty and peers, I found myself learning much more about mechanical design applications than I ever thought possible through one project.  The integrated approach used by the Penn State AE Department allowed knowledge on all aspects of the project to factor into the proposed redesign of the building, both in the depth and breadth proposals.  Having now completed both semesters of the Senior Thesis courses, I can truly appreciate how much knowledge was gained in just this year alone.  This process has greatly strengthened my understanding of mechanical design, and in the future will provide a unique background and foundation upon which to grow as a project engineer in the industry.

CPEP Reflection

Using the CPEP website was a great way to organize and present material that was completed throughout the year long capstone process.  Its process allowed myself to track the changes over the year.  It also allows for potential employers and professors to review my work and offer advice.  Overall, I enjoyed using the CPEP website and it is a great time capsule for my 5th year capstone experience.
